Placeholder Parts

Placeholder parts are used in MaxxTraxx usually for creating Kits because the vehicle model/VIN etc. is not known. To add a placeholder part:

  1. Right click on the labor line associated with the part needed on the RO/Kit
  2. Select Add then choose Part Placeholder towards the bottom of the list
  3. Fill in the Description of the Part, and the Price and any Add On Charges necessary.
  4. Click OK to save to the RO.
  5. When you are ready for the real part to populate your RO, right click on the placeholder part on the RO
  6. Select  Replace this Placeholder with a Part 
  7. Choose the part vendor or other method to add the part and follow the prompts
Note: If the part you have now added is not in your inventory yet, there will be a red circle around the wrench next to that part on the RO and the Order Parts button will become available. Please reference our Knowledgebase regarding ordering parts.
