Variable Labor Rates

Variable Labor Rates

Many shops work on a large variety of vehicles. Trucks, hybrids, RVs, exotics, and even electric vehicles may end up in the shop for repairs. You may want to have a higher labor rate for particular types of vehicles. MaxxTraxx makes it easy to assign different labor rates based on the vehicle you are working on.

CONFIGURING LABOR RATES

Click on the Setups Menu in the upper right corner of the MaxxTraxx window (the gear icon). Within that window find the GENERAL column and click on line B - Repair Orders and Part Invoices

The RO and Part Invoice Setup window opens at the Labor Rates tab. That is where we set our labor rates and average labor cost per hour if desired.
The default labor rate for newly added vehicles is Shop Rate A. If you want to add other rates, highlight the selected hourly rate and change it.
In the screenshot below, the normal hourly rate is $155, but we are making Shop Rate D $195 per hour. This would then be used for vehicles that you want to charge a higher hourly rate, such as RVs, custom vehicles, etc.
Click Save when you are finished making adjustments.

ASSIGNING SHOP RATE TO A VEHICLE

To assign a different labor rate to a vehicle already in your records, open the customer's master record by clicking either the Quick Picks or Customer dropdown then the Customer List box.
For new vehicles you are entering into MaxxTraxx, you can skip to the last screenshot and instructions.  You would enter the Shop Rate you want when entering the vehicle.

Find the customer with the vehicle you want to change, highlight then click on edit or double-click that line.

You are now in the customer record. Highlight the vehicle that you want to change the labor rate for, then double-click.

Within the vehicle master record locate the Labor Price Level dropdown. Select the price level you want to charge then click Save
In the screenshot below, we are changing the Price Level to "D".

The default hourly labor rate for this vehicle will now be $195 instead of $155.
Any open repair orders or quotes will not be updated to the new rate. Those must be changed manually.
