Yahoo Third Party App Passwords

Yahoo Third Party App Passwords

If a complaint on a Yahoo email is the "email address or password in incorrect" and it's been verified that it is correct, most likely they need to setup the "Third Party App Password".
Some older, third-party email apps (that do not use our Yahoo branded sign in page) require you to enter a single password for login credentials. To access your Yahoo Mail account on these apps, you'll need to generate and use an app password. An app password is a long, randomly generated code that gives a non-Yahoo app permission to access your Yahoo account. You’ll only need to provide this code once to sign in to your third-party email app.
  1. Sign in and go to their Account security page.
  2. Click Generate app password or Manage app passwords.
  3. Select your app from the drop down menu and click Generate.  Maxx Traxx falls under  "Other App"
  4. In the box "Enter custom name" put in MaxxTraxx then click generate
  5. This will populate a password that needs to be put in as the password in MaxxTraxx Email Setups for their email.

Note: If you copy and paste it it will not put in the spaces so you will need to put in the spaces between the numbers
