Computer has trouble staying connected with MaxxTraxx

Often times, new computers come with Power Control settings set to turn off the network card, or put the computer to sleep in a relatively short period of time, which disconnects that station from the "server" where it gets its MaxxTraxx data.  There are a few simple changes you can make to correct that problem.  This is a Windows operating system problem, not really a MaxxTraxx problem.  Here are some steps to try:
  1. In your Windows search bar, type in Control Panel and click on that
  2. Change the "View by:" setting  (upper right of that page) to either Large or Small Icons.
  3. Click on "Power Options."
  4. Click "Choose when to turn off the display"
  5. Click the dropdown button for "Put the computer to sleep" and change to "Never"
  6. Click "Change advance power settings"
  7. Change the "Hard disk/Turn off hard disk after/Setting (Minutes)" to 0 (Zero)
  8. Change the "Sleep/Allow hybrid sleep/Setting" to Off
  9. Optionally, you might want to change the "Turn off the display" setting to a couple of hours, but that shouldn't affect the system logging off the network.
  10. If you continue to have problems, you might want to also, from the Control Panel, click on Device Manager.
  11. Find and open Network adapters
  12. Right click on your adapter and choose Properties
  13. Click on the Power Management tab
  14. Uncheck the boxed marked: "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
  15. Click OK to save that setting.
Those changes should reduce the frequency of your computer workstation losing connection with MaxxTraxx.
