Workstations unable to run MaxxTraxx after a Windows Update

Frequently, when Microsoft installs and runs a Windows update on your file server, you find that although the file server is able to run MaxxTraxx, none of the workstations are able to.  There can be any number of reasons for this, but the most common cause can easily be corrected. The following is a step by step set of instructions to do so:

First, you will need to access the Network and Sharing Center of your server.  A simple way to do so is launch the File Explorer.  You can do so by clicking on the Start button in the lower left corner of your desktop screen, and type in File Explorer.  Also, most systems will have the file folder icon in the system tray, which you can “single” click on to launch.

While viewing the File Explorer, scroll down till you find Network.

Right click on the word Network to view the dropdown of options, and left click on Properties.  This will take you to the Network and Sharing Center.  Once there, click on the “Change advance sharing settings link in the upper left of that screen.

Viewing the Advance sharing settings page, you may have to scroll down a little to find: All Networks.  There will be circle with a down arrow to the right.  Click that.

Again, you may have to scroll down to see the Password protected sharing area.  The Windows update may have changed the prior setting and is now set to “Turn on password protected sharing”

If you, you will need to click the next choice, “Turn off password protected sharing”

Now click on “Save changes” and return to your desktop.  Try starting MaxxTraxx again on the workstations.
If MaxxTraxx still fails to start, please contact Support for help fixing your networking problem.
